A trip to the Blueberry Farm

Today we planned to go to one of the many U-pick strawberry places around Seattle. I had been talking about this with Vega since yesterday so we definitely didn't want to miss this. Unfortunately we wasted too much time doing stuff at home after her nap and we ended up getting out of the house too late to get to the u-pick places.

So instead we decided to go to the blueberry farm in Bellevue. This places is just across Lake Washington from Seattle so it's really easy to get to. The problem is that blueberries don't ripen for another couple of weeks. There is a produce stand there though that does sell all kinds of berries from farms around the area. Vega was thrilled. She got to 'pick' strawberries, raspberries & rhubarb.

Then we went on a walk around the marshes & blue berry farms of the Mercer Slough. Vega went into full-on Explorer mode, saying "Ok guys, let's go. First, grumpy troll bridge..." The funny thing is this trail has tons of little bridges over irrigation ditches and marshy areas. So at every single bridge she would stop and pretend to be the grumpy troll, saying "you can't cross my bridge" until Athena and I did something, like count to 5, or dance or jump up and down or make a silly face. One time Athena counted but I didn't and Vega "Ok mommy, you can cross my bridge. You still have to count daddy".
